Clave en la expansión internacional de la Organización Nacional del Yunque fue la idea de Plata Moreno de crear una congregación religiosa, los Cruzados de Cristo Rey, a cargo de uno de sus discípulos predilectos desde que lo conoció como estudiante de Medicina de la UNAM: José Manuel Pereda Crespo.
Pereda Crespo estuvo en la cárcel en 1968. Fue capturado tras haber cumplido una misión que le encomendó el mando del Yunque en la UNAM: sustrajo mil 810 expedientes sicológicos confidenciales. La benevolencia del implacable juez MacGregor, que enjuició con otros criterios a los líderes del movimiento estudiantil, lo puso otra vez en la calle. Aun detenido en 1968, el Vaticano no dudó en nombrarle ponente para el "Sinodo de Las Américas", junto a otro de los jefes del Yunque, Federico Muggenburg, que fue el que introdujo el Yunque en España con los contactos con "Ciudad Católica"

Today at 5.05 p.m., in the Synod Hall, in the presence of the Holy Father, with the "Prayer for the Special Assembly for America of the Synod of Bishops" in Castilian, the Fourteenth General Congregation of the Special Assembly for America of the Synod of Bishops opened with the First Auditio.
